Bacti-Guard Silver Alloy and Hydrogel coatings are permanently bonded to the surface of the catheter, and the synergy between these coatings provides the Bardex® I.C. Anti-Infective Foley Catheter its anti-infective properties.
The hydrogel allows for “communication” with the silver ions at the base of the Bacti-Guard coating which allows for the silver ions to rise to the surface.
The gold and palladium layer of the Bacti-Guard coating facilitates the slow sustained release of the silver ions and provides the Bardex® I.C. Anti-Infective Foley Catheter its long-lasting anti-infective properties.
The silver ions penetrate the pathogens on or near the surfaceof the catheter and minimize adherence of the microorganisms, including gram-negative bacteria, gram- positive bacteria and yeasts.
